Preparing for Your First Desert Adventure
The Sahara Desert is one of the most inhospitable yet beautiful places on Earth. If it's your first time traveling to southern Morocco, it's normal to have questions about what to pack and how to prepare. Here is a list of essentials.
1. Proper Clothing
Temperatures can be high during the day but drop drastically at night. We recommend:
- Layers: Breathable shirts for the day and a good fleece or jacket for the night.
- Long, lightweight pants: Protect from the sun and sand.
- Comfortable footwear: Light trekking boots or closed sneakers. Sandals are for the hotel.
- Turban or scarf: Essential if windy with sand.
2. Sun Protection and Hydration
The sun is relentless. Don't forget UV protection sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen, and lip balm. And most importantly: drink water constantly, even if you're not thirsty.
3. The Tent Experience
Sleeping in a nomad tent is magical. Our camps are equipped with comfortable beds, but the real show is outside: the starry sky. There is no light pollution, so get ready to see the Milky Way like never before.
"The desert is not explained, it is lived. Come with an open mind and a heart ready for adventure."
